Greenfield's Marteney honored by WIAC in football
Greenfield High School graduate Ricky Marteney was chosen as the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference special teams player of the week recently.
Marteney, a junior placekicker for the University of Wisconsin-Stout, kicked field goals of 33 and 25 yards and made two extra points in Stout's 20-9 victory over UW-River Falls on Sept. 22.
He leads the Blue Devils in scoring with 19 points, hitting four of five field goals, including a career-long 43-yarder, and has made all seven point-after attempts.
Marteney was rated 16th on the Stout all-time scoring list with 126 points, and he won the WIAC player of the week honor for the third time in his career.
