Hankins agrees to play at Davenport University
Claire Hankins of West Allis Central signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Mich., next season.
Hankins is averaging about 10 points for the Bulldogs and tallied 21 points in a victory over Wauwatosa East on Jan. 24.
Davenport is only in its 10th season of women's basketball but has been highly successful, posting an overall mark of 238-62 with seven appearances in the NAIA Division 2 Tournament and five conference championships.
Last season's team went 37-1, averaging 91 points and losing in the national championship game. This year's squad is 18-2 and rated third in NAIA Division 2. Coach Mike Williams was formerly an assistant at the University of Michigan.
