Huskies announce team basketball awards

The West Allis Hale girls basketball team announced its awards for the 2012-13 season last week.

The offensive player of the year was Sarah Mueller, the defensive player of the year was Rachel Milani, and the most improved player was Rachel Seefeldt.

The top newcomer with her first year of varsity experience was Delaney Mielke.

The captain's award went to Jenny Jender, Seefeldt and Milani; the coach's award to Katie Liban and the hustle award to Adalia Sexton.

Mueller led the Huskies in scoring and rebounding, Seefeldt in assists and steals and Milani in blocked shots. Sam Schuh paced the team in free-throw percentage and Kara Placzek was the student-athlete of the year.

"When we started the season, we had a vision of where we wanted to take the program, and we made incredible progress top to bottom," head coach George Sotiros said.
