Victory again eludes Central
Bulldogs face Huskies Friday as both are searching for first GMC win
West Allis - The West Allis Central football team had Menomonee Falls on the ropes Friday night.
The Bulldogs were tied with the Indians at 14-14 in the third quarter after Waige Fischer had tallied from four yards out and Jason Alvarez from seven yards.
Falls, however, pulled away with two more touchdowns and eventually claimed a 28-14 victory at the West Allis Athletic Field.
The loss dropped Central to 0-3 in the Greater Metro Conference and 0-4 overall.
The Bulldogs played well, with sophomore quarterback Will Konecny passing for 51 yards and the running backs collecting 121 yards for the game.
Still, the loss left them looking for their first victory of the season, and that search will continue at 7 p.m. Friday at rival West Allis Hale (0-3, 1-3).
The Huskies have been competitive against some of the best teams in the GMC, taking Brookfield Central into overtime before losing and staying within one touchdown of unbeaten Sussex Hamilton at the half last week.
Their leader is quarterback Nick Sotiros, who engineered a victory over Lake Geneva Badger in the season opener, then passed for 140 yards against Hamilton.
Central downed the Huskies, 32-7, in last year's contest.
