West Allis - The 2012 season took a turn for the worse for the West Allis Central football team on Friday night.
The Bulldogs dropped a 17-6 game to Wauwatosa East at Hart Park in Wauwatosa, and the victory snapped a 24-game Greater Metro Conference losing streak for the Red Raiders.
Devan Finney got the evening off to a good start for Central when he hauled in a 7-yard scoring pass from quarterback Dakota Behrs in the second quarter. A two-point pass attempt was no good, leaving the Bulldogs up 6-0.
Tosa East came back with a 54-yard touchdown run by D.J. Greenhill, who finished with 178 yards on the ground. The point after was good and East was ahead 7-6 at halftime.
All the second-half scoring belonged to Tosa East, as Nick Lange connected on a 29-yard field goal and Greenhill ran in from two yards.
Central actually outgained the Raiders, 347 yards to 287, as running back Jason Alvarez collected 148 yards and Behrs completed 8 of 15 passes for 71 more.
Central, which fell to 0-2 in the GMC and 0-3 overall, next welcomes Menomonee Falls at 7 p.m. Sept. 14 at the West Allis Athletic Field. The Indians slipped to 1-1 in the conference and 1-2 overall with a 21-7 loss to Brookfield East last week.
