OUTLOOK
Player to watch: Senior quarterback Dakota Behrs, who Rodriguez said is strong and fast and who knows the Central offense well, having started a couple of games last season.
Date to circle: Sept. 21 against West Allis Hale at the West Allis Athletic Field. The rivalry game is always a highlight of the season for both Central and Hale.
Strength: Rodriguez likes the size and physical nature of his team, adding that the Bulldogs should be strong and aggressive on both sides of the ball.
Weakness: As always, Central will be severely tested by the Greater Metro Conference, which features rugged opposition almost from top to bottom. It can be difficult to judge just how good a team is when it goes through that type of grinder.
We say: The Bulldogs suffered an unusual number of injuries last season, particularly at the quarterback spot, where they lost their top three starters by the end of the year. As a result, they lost their final three games after starting 3-3. "If we can stay healthy," Rodriguez said, "we can beat these teams at the end of the year. I like our chances to make the (WIAA) playoffs."
