West Allis donates
more than 10 tons of food
West Allis - Boy Scouts associated with the Three Harbors Council went door to door in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Kenosha and Racine counties on March 23 collecting more than 147,342 pounds of food to help feed the hungry.
Of that, the Boy Scouts collected 21,686 pounds of food just in West Allis.
Maple Grove School
to look for new principal
Greenfield - The Greenfield School Board last week accepted the resignation of Melissa Yow as principal of Maple Grove Elementary School, 6921 W. Cold Spring Road.
Yow will remain in the position until the end of the current school year, which ends in June.
The School Board paid tribute to Yow at its March 25 meeting. It noted that the school has made great strides under her leadership.

Greenfield - The Greenfield Public Library, 5310 W. Layton Ave., now has a limited number of pre-loaded e-book readers available for loan.
Each reader comes pre-loaded with 30 to 40 titles in a specific genre, including fiction, nonfiction, romance, fantasy/sci-fi, young adult, mystery/thrillers and historical fiction.
Also available is one e-reader that is pre-loaded with current titles in a variety of genres, and is available for in-library use only.

study trip to Germany
Greenfield - Molly Hetzel, a senior at Greenfield High School, has been awarded an all-expense-paid study trip to Germany by the American Association of Teachers of German.
Hetzel was selected as a national winner after scoring in the top 5 percent of level three German language students on the 2013 National German Exam for High School Students that the association sponsors. Nearly 23,000 students took the exam.
After qualifying with a high score on the exam, she submitted responses to several short essay questions in German and in English and was interviewed.
Hetzel is one of 44 German language students from across the country to receive study trips.

West Allis - The SCORE Southeast Wisconsin Chapter will conduct a business workshop, titled "QB session 4: Purchasing and Controlling Cash & Other Assets," will be held April 11, instead.
The workshop, originally scheduled for March 28, is for entrepreneurs who feel they need to improve the efficiency of recording sales, maintaining inventory records and effectively use a single QuickBooks transaction.
The session will be held at Upper Iowa University, 620 S. 76th St., Suite 100, from 9 a.m. to noon with networking and check-in beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The fee is $35 per person and $20 for each additional person from the same firm. Advance reservations are required for admission, and can be obtained by calling SCORE Southeast Wisconsin at (414) 297-3942 or by visiting its website,scoresewisconsin.org.

sold at West Allis grocery
West Allis - A $350,000 top prize winning ticket in the Wisconsin Lottery's SuperCash! daily lotto game was sold recently at Pick 'n Save, 6760 W. National Ave., West Allis.
The buyer matched all six winning numbers in the March 21 SuperCash! drawing to claim the $350,000 top prize. The winning SuperCash! numbers were 02, 10, 17, 18, 35 and 39.
SuperCash! is a daily lotto game played only in Wisconsin. Players try to match the six winning numbers drawn each night from a field of 39 numbers for a chance to win prizes of $1, $30, $500 and the top prize of $350,000.
