Groups combine to remove graffiti this weekend
A group of more than 50 volunteers will be out in the community Saturday morning as part of a citywide cleanup effort.
The effort, coordinated by the West Allis Police Department, will remove graffiti in areas including downtown, the railroad tracks near 66th Street and National Avenue, the City Yards building at 63rd Street and McGeoch Avenue and the Able Storage building at 53rd and Rogers streets.
In addition to the Police Department, other groups to be involved are The Home Depot, the Citizen Police Academy, West Allis Police Reserves, the Community Alliance Against Drugs, Cub Scout Pack 586, Central High School wrestlers, off-duty police officers and community members.
