'Oklahoma!' rides into Greenfield High School
Greenfield - Greenfield High School will present Rogers and Hammerstein's "Oklahoma!" in the Performing Arts Center, 4800 S. 60th St., at 7 p.m. Dec. 7 and 8, and at 2 p.m. Dec. 9.
"Oklahoma!" is the first musical written by the famous duo of Rogers and Hammerstein and features such favorites as "Oh What a Beautiful Morning," "Surrey with the Fringe on Top," and the title song, "Oklahoma." The musical was first performed in 1943 and earned an Academy Award in 1955.
Set in Oklahoma Territory in 1906 the musical tells the story of cowboy Curly McLain and his courting of farm girl Laurey Williams. The musical also features a secondary story, the romance of cowboy Will Parker and his flirting fiancée, Ado.

St. Florian Church again offers fish fry
West Milwaukee - An all-you-can-eat fish fry will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at the school cafeteria of St. Florian Parish, 1215 S. 45th St..
The dinner will include a salad bar, clam chowder, beer-batter fried or baked cod, chicken tenders, parsley buttered potatoes, french fries, rye bread, dessert, coffee and milk. Beer, wine and soda will be sold separately.
Take-outs will be available.
The cost is $10 general, or $7 for children younger than 10.

West Allis Library hosts book sale
West Allis - The year's final monthly book sale of the Friends of the West Allis Public Library will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 8 at the library, 7421 W. National Ave.
The monthly sales offer a broad array of books - including children's books, mysteries, romance, cooking, science fiction, nonfiction, large print books and Westerns - plus records, magazines, CDs, VHS tapes, audio books, cassettes, software, games and puzzles.
Proceeds support the summer reading program and other programming throughout the year and to buy additional resources and equipment for the library.
The Friends encourage donations by bringing materials to the library anytime it's open, although magazines should be brought only on the day of the sales.
Rummage-A-Rama continues at State Fair Park
West Allis - Rummage-A-Rama will continues from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 8 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 9 at the State Fair Park Wisconsin Products Pavilion.
Rummage-A-Rama is a collective rummage sale consisting of individual rummage sales and local and regional exhibitors.
Admission is $4, but patrons who donate two nonperishable food items for Hunger Task Force will get in for $2. (Since its return in 2009, Rummage-A-Rama has collected more than 62,000 pounds of food through this promotion.) Ages 12 and younger are admitted free.
Parking also will be free in the north lot at the Pettit National Ice Center via Gate 6. However, closer parking is available within the park for $5 via Gate 5 off 84th Street.

Holiday event at museum, cabin
West Allis - The West Allis Historical Society Holiday Open House will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 9 at the museum and cabin, 8405 W. National Ave.
Hot Chocolate and cookies will be served. Admission is free.
Cookie Walk strolls down lane of treats
West Allis - Mary, Queen of Heaven Church, 2322 S. 106th St., will host a Cookie Walk - featuring various trays of cookies along several aisles of tables - from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 9.
Visitors can pick the cookies they want at the cost of $7 per pound. The sale also includes candy, fudge and peanut brittle.
Proceeds will go to school scholarships fund and for parish needs.

Retired men's club has monthly speakers
West Allis - The West Allis Retired Men's Club presents different speakers at its monthly club 9 a.m. breakfast meetings, open to all retired men and women, regardless of where they live.
On Dec. 13 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 117th Street and Cleveland Avenue, a "Christmas Program" will be led by the Salvation Army, which will accept freewill offerings.
On Jan. 10 at Apostle Presbyterian Church, 76th Street and Orchard Avenue, Joanne Reuss will serve as "Income Tax Consultant."
A $3 donation to help offset the cost is asked.
Gingerbread houses to be decorated at library
West Allis - An evening of gingerbread house decorating will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Dec. 13 at the West Allis Public Library, 7421 W. National Ave.
The library will supply the candy decorating materials and visitors will supply the ideas. The activity will be free.
Fish fry slated at St. Augustine's
West Allis - St. Augustine Parish, 2025 S. 67th St., will hold a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 14 featuring fried or baked fish, french fries, new potatoes, coleslaw, rye bread and butter, lemon wedges, dessert, coffee or milk.
A six-piece shrimp dinner also is available as are carry-outs.
The all-you-can-eat fish cry cost is $9.50 for adults, $4.75 for children ages 3 to 11 and free for younger children. The six-piece shrimp dinner is $10.50. Soda, beer and wine are extra.

Party celebrates Christmas with food and dancing
West Allis - A Christmas Dance Party will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 15 at St. Aloysius Gonaga Hall, 1435 S. 92nd St.
It will feature a full potluck buffet, a rumba lesson, a variety of ballroom dance music and special dance performances.
Dress will be semi-formal (suit and tie or cocktail dress).
Those whose last names start from A to M are asked to bring a main dish. Alll others should bring appetizers or hors d'oeuvres. Beverages and dessert will be provided.

Church serving free breakfasts
Greenfield - The congregation of Christ United Methodist Church, 5200 S. 48th St., will serve its last free Community Breakfast of the year on Dec. 16.
The breakfast, a community outreach program, will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Family friendly New Year's Eve slated
West Allis - The West Allis/West Milwaukee Community Alliance Against Drugs will again hold a New Year's Eve Family Night from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Dec. 31 at West Allis Central High School, 8516 W. Lincoln Ave.
The evening will include music, swimming, basketball, volleyball, inflatables, and a large rock-climbing wall.
Clowns will do balloon art and face-painting, and a family friendly movie will be shown in the auditorium. There also will be food and refreshments for a nominal fee.
Admission will be free for CAAD members or $5 per person for ages 4 and older. Nonmembers can join that night for $20 for families and $10 for individuals, good until November 2013.

PJ storytime returns to library
Greenfield - Children can come in pajamas and bring pillows, blankets or stuffed animals to the Greenfield Public Library, 5310 W. Layton Ave., for PJ Storytime at 6 p.m. Jan. 19.
PJ Storytime is held one Saturday a month, after the library is closed. Doors will be unlocked at 5:50 p.m.

West Allis - The West Allis Players will present a Children's Series, hourlong shows are performed at Nathan Hale High School, 11601 W. Lincoln Ave.

Children's immunizations given in evening clinics
West Allis - The West Allis Health Department is scheduling appointments for evening children's immunization clinics.
The clinics are from 4 to 7 p.m. on the second Mondays of the month and the fourth Tuesdays of the month at the department, 7120 W. National Ave. Appointments can be made by calling the department at (414) 302-8600. Childhood immunizations at the Health Department are free.
The department also offers daytime immunization clinics from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 12:30 to 4 p.m. Thursdays.
