Alyssa Fine of Greenfield and Breanna Kaho of West Allis earned associate degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha in May, Kaho cum laude.
Chris Goldsby of Greenfield has been awarded a Fulbright fellowship for the 2012-13 academic year. The award will allow Goldsby to study at the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico in Mexico City or the Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Monterrey, both top universities in Mexico. A business and Spanish major, Goldsby will work full time in a business internship with a multinational corporation or nonprofit, with a goal of finding creative solutions to issues such as poverty, child malnutrition, poor sanitation and domestic violence.
Joel York and Alicia York, siblings from Greenfield, will sing the national anthem together at their commencement ceremony at Charter Oak State College in New Britain, Conn., in June. Joel hopes to pursue a paralegal degree in the fall and plans to start his own coffee-roasting business; Alicia is self-employed as a voice and piano teacher. Both have been singing and studying voice since childhood, and they are members of the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus. Earning a degree from Charter Oak has become a York family tradition; three sisters, Charissa, Danielle and Erin, also earned degrees there.
