Ashley Gehrand of West Allis earned her master's degree in applied molecular biology from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in January.

Karl Vierthaler of Greenfield earned his degree in mechanical engineering with honors in May from the University of Central Florida, where he earned designation as a Lead Scholar after making the dean's list the last three semesters at UCF. He is beginning his career as a mechanical engineer in Miami, Fla.

The following graduates earned their bachelor's degrees, or other degrees as noted, from Lakeland College in Sheboygan in May: from Greenfield, Danijela Perisic, master's degree in business administration, Kristina Borts, education with honors, Andrew Cheever, accounting with honors, and Giovanna Doll and Angela Schmitz, business management; and from West Allis, Amanda Polewczynski, master's in business administration, Bekki Boissonnault, master's in education, Penny Riva, accounting, Lisa Voller, education with high honors, and Jerrika Xiong, computer science.

Christopher Osterndorf of Greenfield graduated magna cum laude from DePaul University in Chicago in June.

The following graduates earned bachelor's degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in May: from Greenfield, Samantha Abramczyk, fine art, and Erik Haapakoski, graphic communication management; and from West Allis, Sophie Kjeldgaard, fine art.

The following graduates earned bachelor's degrees, or other degrees as noted, from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in May: from Greenfield, Ryan Malkowski, fisheries and water resources, Brenna Stingl, interior architecture, cum laude, Sara Wendt, wildlife ecology-research and management, and Amy Young, master's degree in communicative disorders; and from West Allis, Matthew Clark, associate degree, Curtis Kadow, elementary education, cum laude, and Timothy Rushmer, biology, summa cum laude.

Katie Gall of West Allis earned her certificate from the Wisconsin School of Professional Pet Grooming in Okauchee in May.

Alexandra Gilgenbach of West Allis made the spring semester dean's list, and Patrick Johnson of West Allis made the honors list, at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Laura Osterndorf of Greenfield made the spring semester dean's list at Loyola University in Chicago.

John Brick of West Allis made the spring semester dean's list at Iowa State University in Ames.

Gianninne Bedoya Nader and Grant Seiler of Greenfield and Dana Ehrmann and Emily Woodard of West Allis made the spring semester dean's list at Carthage College in Kenosha.

The following students made the spring semester dean's list at Marquette University in Milwaukee: from Greenfield, Carly Windt, Logan Bartz, Daniel Stassi, Natalie Imperl, Taylor Jerominski, Patrick O'Donnell, Michael Bruckbauer, William Klemmer, Angela Bublitz, Lindsay Nolder and Jennifer Roberts; and from West Allis, Jonathan Sobeck, Tyler Tuescher and Hannah Klapperich-Mueller.

Richard Kusisto of Greenfield earned a nonresident merit scholarship to attend Mayville State University in North Dakota, where he will pursue a bachelor's degree in sports management and will be involved with the Comets football program.

James "JR" Lewis of Greenfield, a senior and member of the wrestling team at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, earned Academic All American status for the second year in a row. He also received the team leader award and is a co-captain.

Julian Schuenke of Greenfield earned the $4,000 Gordon J. Flesch Scholarship from the Gordon Flesch Co. for his studies in biomedical science at Marquette University in Milwaukee.

SERVICENEWS

Marine Pvt. 1st Class Ben Slowinski graduated from the U.S. Marine Corp Recruit Depot in San Diego, Calif. Slowinski is a 2010 graduate of Nathan Hale High School in West Allis.
