Weather permitting (no snow) and due to a favorable, long-term, weather forecast, West Allis DPW will extend the yard waste pickup deadline to Sunday, Nov. 22. West Allis residents may place yard waste materials such as flowers, vines, weeds, thatch, garden debris and leaves into the curb line of the street for collection. Do not place materials in the curb line at any other time. For more information see the City's website at www.westalliswi.gov.
The City of West Allis would like to remind all property owners, both residential and commercial, to mow their entire property during the growing season. This includes the front and rear yards, any areas around garages, along alleys and fence lines as well as the narrow strip of grass between the sidewalk and curb.
Grass height must be kept below six (6) inches and all weeds must be destroyed. Long grass and weeds are unsightly and can become a haven for small rodents and pests. Owners that don't maintain their property will be billed for any work the City does to get the property into compliance. The City will make a priority of gaining compliance in alleys.
These requirements are in accordance with Section 13.28(10)(b)1 and 2 of the City's Revised Municipal Code. The Municipal Code may be viewed on the City's website at www.westalliswi.gov.
Questions may be directed to the Forestry Division at 414-302-8811, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
