Refuse and Recycling for Memorial Day Week 2015

The Municipal Yard will not be open to accept drop-off materials on Saturday, May 23. ** DPW offices will be closed for the Memorial Day Holiday on Monday, May 25, and refuse and recycling will not be collected on Monday, May 25. ** If your regular collection day is Monday, May 25, please set out your refuse, and, if appropriate, recyclables on Tuesday, May 26, by 7:00 am. ** For the remainder of the week, please set out your refuse or recyclables on your normal collection days by 7:00 am. ** Crews may work ahead or fall behind the normal route schedule. ** Any refuse or recyclables not collected on your normal collection day should be made available on the next scheduled work day. ** There will also be no brush collection the week of May 25.

Veterans Wanted!

The Allied Veterans Committee, in conjunction with the City of West Allis, will sponsor a Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 25, 2015. The parade will step off promptly at 10:00 a.m. and a memorial service will follow the parade at approximately 11:00 a.m. Veterans from the West Allis area who would like to ride in the parade can contact Ald. Dan Roadt at 414-321-7264 or droadt@westalliswi.gov. Transportation on the parade route, with limited seating, will be provided.

Spring Yard Waste Collection in 2015

  • Sunday, April 5, through Sunday, April 19
  • Place materials in the curb-line following the same procedures normally utilized during the fall collection period
  • Do not place materials in the street prior to April 5 or after April 19
  • DO NOT MIX BRUSH INTO THE YARD WASTE PILES (placing brush in the street is illegal and subjects the property owner to a fine--property owners can be held liable for any personal or vehicular damage occurring as a result of brush placed in the street)
  • Yard waste materials may also be taken to a drop-off center or composted on-site
  • Remove pots and soil from potted plants before placing in the curb-line

West Allis refuse and recycling collections change for the Christmas and New Year holidays. Crews may work ahead or fall behind the normal schedule.  Please see the Public Works' Refuse and Recycling Document Library for more information. 

Refuse and Recycling Collection During the 2014 Labor Day Holiday

• The Municipal Yard and Morgan Avenue sites will not be open to accept drop-off materials on Saturday, August 30, and Monday, September 1.
• DPW offices will be closed for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 1, and refuse and recycling will not be collected on Monday, September 1.
• There will be no brush collection the week of September 1.
• Refuse and recycling collections are affected by weeks with a holiday. If your regular collection day is Monday, September 1, please set out your refuse, and, if appropriate, recyclables on Tuesday, September 2, by 7:00 am. For the remainder of the week, please set out your refuse or recyclables on your normal collection day by 7:00 am.
• Crews may work ahead or fall behind the normal route schedule during the holiday week.
• Any refuse or recyclables not collected on your normal collection day should be made available on the next scheduled work day.
• Any questions regarding your refuse and/or recycling pick-up may be directed to the Sanitation and Street Division weekdays between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm at 414-302-8800.
