This and That

I live in Greenfield with my husband and cat. I work full time. Frugality and simplicity have been a part of my life long before they became popular and it has made life a lot less stressful. I love volunteering, home improvement/decorating, crafting and gardening.

Thanks To The Greenfield Fire Department

Last Wednesday, March 11th, our condo association experienced something they have never experienced before!  We had a fire in one of our buildings.  Everyone got out; no one was hurt.  Not even the pets.  There is major fire damage to one of the unit garages and 3 families cannot live in their units due to smoke/water damage.  Another family has some minor damage.

Customer Service?

Over the past month or so, we have experienced some of the worst customer service ever.  My position at work is "customer service" and the company I work for prides itself on the good service we offer to our members.  We do so because that is the way we would want to be treated.

Wow - it's been a busy summer in our household and I am somewhat looking forward to resting a bit between now and just before the holiday get togethers start.

Rummage Sales

The last two days, I have had the pleasure of having a rummage sale.  Our condo complex holds a sale for any unit owners that want to participate and we sell out of our respective garages.  I like rummages as I get to meet some neighbors and people just to chit chat and enjoy meeting others.  However, I get frustrated at people who insult my intelligence by telling me lies so that they can get me to reduce my already cheap pricing. The best comment I heard today was:    "all I have is ..... " and yet they go onto the next garage and buy more there and walk around with a cellphone that is much more expensive than the one I have.   The majority of people who came to the rummage were knowledgeable about pricing and willing to pay the asking price.  I was willing to accept minor changes in my pricing in most cases but sometimes I just wouldn't budge - I'd rather hold onto the item and try to sell it next year.  I'm stubborn that way!

I am somewhat of a stickler when it comes to friendships. Of course, friends must have similar interests and likes/dislikes, values, etc. I shy away from Big Story tellers, braggards, people who flaunt their money or try to act like they have money, people who are full of themselves and people who, in general, just do not treat others with consideration. There are times when we need to ask ourselves, is this person really a friend (or not)? Think it over. Make a decision as to whether it is worthwhile to continue with the relationship or say bye bye.
