Insomniac theater

Fantasy Football, Fox 6, MLB, Nostalga, Television, YouTube

A couple of months ago, I was looking for something goofy for my Fantasy Football Team's website.  As commissioner of the league, I try to post a funny photo with a recap of a week's winner.  This time in particular, it was for our league champion, so I wanted to find a video.  Being that he is my age and named Jim, I trolled You Tube until I found this...

Now, I met Jim a hundred years ago when we were in junior bowling leagues at the old Red Carpet Lanes South, so as I started watching old Sesame Street videos (and trust me, I watched a bunch), I wondered if I could find that special one...

Ah, yes.  The one that had the bowling pins.  When I would watch Sesame Street (well, I watched it for my younger siblings as I was too cool to watch it for my enjoyment) I couldn't wait for these segments now known as the "Baker" songs.  I'd watch the numbers flash across the screen, hoping they would get to 10, and being crestfallen when they only got to...

Four?  Are you kidding me?  I was able to count higher than four!  I could make it to...

As I got older, I graduated to the Electric Company, and my first taste of The Cos...

Getting older still, I'd race home from school to watch syndicated programming on Channel 18.  For some strange reason, in the midst of all this programming aimed at kids, we'd get this commercial (if I could have just gotten in on the ground floor of this computer fad)...

But let's start acting like an adult.  What more could a teen boy want than a commercial that combined bowling and beer?...

And I always liked my bananas.  And Kalispell.  Not too often "Banana" and "Kalispell" is in the same commercial...

Later in the day, time to settle in during prime time and see a news promo...

So on this day in December when I set out on a quest to find one good Sesame Street clip on YouTube, I get a little carried away and spend the better part of three hours reliving my youth.  Now, remember in this blog I mentioned that I had some blogs half finished?  This was one of them.  And as I work tonight putting in all the links and getting ready to press "Publish", I find myself looking again at old and goofy clips.  And if you go into YouTubing with an open mind, you can find a little more than you bargained for...

And if you sat through four minutes of a Busch commercial, then you get rewarded with this absolute gem.  So very wrong, in so very many ways...

Now the last time I did an Insomniac Theater, I went completely off the board for the last entry, something that went against the theme of the blog.  Enjoy!

I think its bedtime now.
