Laura's Corner
I work very hard and am attending college to obtain my degree in the Human Service field. Writing makes me feel alive and gives me the opportunity to touch those whom I would not be able to otherwise. Last but not least, I have been blessed with two amazing daughters who love me completely and support my dreams. Feel free to contact me with questions, concerns or feedback.
Milwaukee Job Center Southwest
Hi Everyone...
thought I would lighten the mood this time. Hope this brings about peace, love and happiness... :)
While I was at Maximus, there is another department I wanted to let everyone know about. It is the Milwaukee Job Center Southwest, also located at 1304 S 70th St in West Allis.
I was actually informed that this is an area that not only assists with revising your resume, but also has workstations with computers which allows you to search for new employment as well. I took my original resume in and a really nice girl behind the desk informed me they could take a look at it and fine-tune it for me. They also store your resume within their computer system. What this allows you to do is search for new employment and apply for jobs online. I was able to print out my resume and also information off of the computer regarding job fairs, etc.
On each computer, they have links to jobs within the City of Milwaukee, government jobs and other job locater websites. I found it very easy to navigate. Each person in the department was very helpful to each and every person who needed assistance.
On the very day I appeared at the job center, located on the 4th floor was an actual job fair which I attended. They had a few employers on hand and I was able to speak with representatives from each one.
There are a few job fairs coming up within the month of May. If you need information regarding the job fairs or would like to know more about this center, please call 414-604-7538. Please do not hesitate to stop by and ask for help. An appointment is not necessary, it is a walk in type of clinic.
I have to state that I truly appreciate the woman behind the desk who was so warm and caring when I walked in. I also want to say a huge thank you to Colin who assisted me in revising my resume. He scaled it down to one page and I have received rave reviews regarding the way it was structured.
I strongly encourage everyone looking for new employment to take a look at this center. Thank you to the county of Milwaukee for the opportunity to pursue new options with freedom.
If anyone knows of employers who are hiring, please feel free to comment so that everyone in need of direction can be aware of a new type of employment. There are so many folks without work who would be so grateful for any type of information.
UNTIL NEXT TIME!
