Is 2 out of 3 considered Super?
Last year, I confidently gave my three Super Bowl predictions, (Pitt straight up, Pitt minus the points, and the OVER) and went 2-1 (the Cards managed the cover). This year, I am not quite as confident. Both Indianapolis and New Orleans seem to have strengths and weaknesses... but they weren't consistently strong or weak enough to hang my hat on.

State Fair and vacations aren't the only things that I can bore you with in minute-by-minute detail. It is 10:00 AM right now and I am already tired of hearing about the snow. Why you people (and by you people, I mean you people that watch the newscasts constantly during bad weather, further cementing the fact that it will be even more over the top for the next bad weather event) feed into this is beyond me.

Second large snow storm of the 2009-2010 school year and yet the district doesn't close schools, why is that?
Scofflaw Signage Littering the Roadway
We’ve all seen them, signs stuck in the media, or at an off ramp, asking “Looking for L-O-V-E? Call 1-800-GR8-DATE” or “Home foreclosing? Call our lending specialists at LENDN-4-U.” The business entities that produce these signs litter our roadways and block the line of sight on highways, creating distractions, interfering with the right of way, and causing an eyesore. And as we’ve seen with a number of so-called foreclosure specialists who plaster posters in our neighborhoods, these entities advertised can go from less than legitimate to downright criminal.
Right now, it’s against the law for an individual to place a sign in the right of way, but giving a small ticket to one person who is hanging signs will not solve the problem. In most cases, law enforcement never sees the individual who places the signs. There will still be businesses who produce scofflaw signs to spread their message without regard to public safety and the beauty of our neighborhoods. That’s why I introduced Senate Bill 457, which would create real penalties for business entities that produce these nuisance signs and place them in highway rights of way.
Snow Emergency Results in Altered Refuse and Recycling Collection
As a result of the snow emergency in the City of West Allis from 9 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, until 12 noon on Wednesday, February 10, garbage and recycling were not collected on Wednesday, February 10. Please note the schedule below and set out your refuse and, if appropriate, recyclables by 7 a.m. according to the modified schedule.

Lincoln Intermediate School-passing or failing?
While surfing around on West Allis Now, I came across an article submitted by a resident regarding Lincoln Intermediate School. It was very well written and gave very good views as to what goes on inside the school.
My youngest attended Linconln when it was a grade school, the year before the switch. Things were ok for him there, school is not his favorite place to be and he had a few problems. However, I was pleased witht he way things were handled. Than he attended the year it went to an Intermediate school. For the most part, things didn't really change for him. He was the fifth grade class that was transitioning the grade change, and I didn't like the way things were handled.
Stifel exec comments on schools' investment lawsuit
Ronald Kruszewski, board chairman and CEO of Stifel Financial Corp. and Stifel, Nicolaus & Co., Inc., faced some questions in a television interview last week about the ongoing lawsuit in Milwaukee County circuit court regarding $200 million of risky investments his firm helped sell to five Wisconsin school districts in 2006.
Stifel was sued by the five districts, as was the Royal Bank of Canada, for allegedly misleading school officials into believing their investments were safe. The investments have since lost most of their value and the districts are doubtful they will receive much money back when the investments mature in 2013.

400 plus came out to take advantage of this wonderful event on a cold Saturday Night.
Dog Owners With Selective Hearing
Before anyone gets upset, let me just say I know there are plenty of responsible dog owners in West Allis who actually pay attention to their barking dogs. Those of us who are dogless appreciate your efforts to keep barking to a minimum (and also to keep them from leaving surprises in neighbor's yards).
On my side of things, I understand barking is what dogs do. I understand they bark at intruders, they bark at their shadow, they bark at noises that aren't even coming from their yard and, guess what folks, THEY BARK WHEN THEY WANT TO COME BACK IN THE HOUSE.
Comments on East End News
The East End of West Allis has some good things happening that you may or may not know about. The first of which is the possibility of the historic Paradise having a buyer. As reported by Mark Schaaf, the gentleman who is the original owner of The Rosebud on North Avenue has put in a bid. It sure would be great to have an entertainment venue like this on the East End of West Allis. Rehabbing the Paradise could encourage smaller theater groups, musical acts and even renting out to school groups for viewing various programs . The city fathers really should encourage venues like this to come to the East End since there is a whole new influx of residents from the Six Points apartments and most of the entertainment is on the East side or downtown. I still think some kind of parking structure will eventually need to be built in the area as more businesses and entertainment and restaurants come into the area and welcome their customers.
Secondly, the condos on 63rd and Greenfield are up for sale. The buildings have been finished for several months now and remained unoccupied because of foreclosure issues. The prices for purchase have been lowered, I believe since the original prices were way out of line with the area.

A couple of months ago, I was looking for something goofy for my Fantasy Football Team's website. As commissioner of the league, I try to post a funny photo with a recap of a week's winner. SINGLE MOM SYNDROME
I have been a single mom for quite a few years. My children reside with me and they visit their father one Saturday a month. Sometimes more, which is rare, and sometimes less, which is not.
I Could Not Have Said It Better Myself
"I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, and my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio. I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.
I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.
Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60’s & 70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love ... I will.
I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon, if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set. They, too, will get old.
