Laura's Corner
I work very hard and am attending college to obtain my degree in the Human Service field. Writing makes me feel alive and gives me the opportunity to touch those whom I would not be able to otherwise. Last but not least, I have been blessed with two amazing daughters who love me completely and support my dreams. Feel free to contact me with questions, concerns or feedback.
Focus Anew
From this day forward, I am going to write about what I can see, touch, taste, feel and smell. I am going to write about those who are a part of my life, those I talk to and spend time with on a regular basis.
I welcome you to join me on this new journey.
I am a tattoo girl. Have been for the past 10 years I enjoy the art, expression and color. My favorite tattoo is of my own photographs. They represent 6 of my favorite flowers from a shoot at the Botanical Gardens. Another is my favorite saying, "I am not afraid of life or death, nor the in between, the journey itself cannot be planned, lies in the unforseen." Last but not least, my latest and greatest. One inked just last night. It reads, "Forget me not while we're apart, keep me always in your heart."
Do they hurt, well, yes, because two are down my sides. Am I judged, well, sure, because not everyone is into tattoos. Have I been questioned, absolutely! One woman, walking behind me, questioned, "Why would you do that to your body?" I can't quite remember my response, but it was probably along the lines of, "Because I can!"
However you choose to decorate your body is up to you. Whether it's through clothing, jewelry, makeup, a certain scent or other, wear what makes you smile.
To all of those holding back, do one thing that brings out your inner beauty king or queen. Even if it's small, go for it. Wear that jewelry you've been saving for a special occasion. Spray your perfume, more than once a year. Put on your favorite dress, put on your favorite song and dance around the house. Don't waste another moment by allowing the dust to settle.
Bring our your inner Maria. Because of this outspoken Nun, we now have one of the greatest movies of all time. She brought to life the Von Trapp Family. She took charge, removed the whistle, opened up the ballroom and brought us some of the most beautiful and memorable music we still love today. Take a cue from her and you too shall bring forth some of the most beautiful and memorable experiences of your life.
