No, this is not part of an obituary -- this is the title of West Allis Players' spring show! "In Lieu of Flowers" opens April 27.

You have not heard of this play before now -- I wrote it and the Players is the first group to produce it. I am thrilled to be presenting it and working on it has been a fantastic experience. Because this is the "first time," the cast (including my blog mate, Steve) is able to actively participate in the writing of the script by asking questions and challenging me to defend a line or a character's motivation and have frequently helped to improve the show.

"In Lieu of Flowers" is a touching drama about the death of Lou Flowers and how his passing affects his friends and employees in surprising ways. Lou owned the popular cafe/truck stop, The Chatterbox, and all the action takes place there. His will leaves a lot of questions and Lou's story is told in a number of memory scenes. It's a story of loss and love, of warm memories and second chances. I think you will enjoy it.

I will be on television at 6:50 a.m. on Sunday, April 15 on Channel 4 with some stills from the show as well as two of my actresses. Get up early and check us out!
